In this “radio play within a play,” Paul played the young Orson Welles in a play that Paul wrote based on real-life events. On Christmas Eve 1938, Orson and his Mercury Theatre Company are all set for their latest weekly live radio broadcast – tonight’s it’s going to be A Christmas Carol. But all is not well at CBS Studio 1 – the actor who was set to play Scrooge has had to call in sick, and so Orson has to step in as Scrooge – and rewrite and recast the last show at the last minute! Can Orson’s overworked little gang pull it off, with Hollywood watching after the success of War of the Worlds? And can the spirits of Christmas save the soul of megalomaniacal workaholic Orson?
Given its World Premiere on 2012 by AboutFACE Ireland at the historic Marlay House in Dublin, it was revived in 2013 for a run at the Powerscourt Theatre in Dublin’s city centre.
